The presentation training takes place online over 3 or 6 days depending on your and your teams’ availability.  We run both open and closed groups for our Boredom Slayers training, meaning you can book as an individual or book for a team. Open Groups are scheduled by us and anyone can attend. Closed groups are pre-booked for your company for up to 10 people, this is a great option for your sales, marketing and product teams to fine-tune their presentation strategy, delivery and design skills. Sessions for both GMT -5 and GMT +2.

MODULE 1 : MASTER THE MESSAGE

Every presentation is written before it’s designed, before it’s delivered. Here you are shown how to write a great presentation. We teach you how to define your audience, how to reach them and what motivates their decision-making, all based on the Missing Link Action Framework.

Good slides support the speaker. Great slides enhance the entire experience. We will teach you how think like a presentation designer so that you can easily build the kind of visual aids – in PowerPoint or Prezi – that clarify your content and add some personality to your presentation.

MODULE 3 : STAND AND DELIVER

We teach you how to stand and deliver your presentation in front of an audience virtually or in-person. We work through your presentation you created in the days prior. our coaches will refine and hone your style and delivery, until your ‘best version of self’ emerges. This is the culmination of all your hard work – and where the rhetoric hits the road! Showtime!

Learn:

  • How to shake off behavioral expectations and use your unique personality to win over audiences – your ‘best version of self’
  • How to apply pitch, pace, pose, pauses and peroration to create narrative dynamics
  • Ways to engage with the audience, and activate their attention

MASTER THE MESSAGE

Every presentation is written before it’s designed, before it’s delivered. Here you are shown how to write a great presentation. This session covers the basics of how an audience receives information and how to build a narrative that aligns with that. We will take you through our battle-hardened “Missing Link Action framework” to refine and build your narrative that will ultimately engage your audience.

  • Define your audience and diagnose their buying motives, and reason to care
  • Sort, categorize and triage content for maximum clarity
  • Apply the Missing Link Action Framework in any scenario
  • Learn the difference between what’s important and what’s not

MODULE 2:

PIMP MY PRESO

Now that your narrative is rock-solid we build the slides that will enhance your message. We teach you how to think like a designer. We’ll cover the anatomy of what makes a good slide and how people visually receive information. We will also show you a plethora of free online tools that will make the presentation design process easier (even if you are not a graphic designer).

There is a good reason that our training interventions are so popular, so powerful and so ‘perorative’. That good reason’s name is Kevin and he is our Master Trainer, the head of the Missing Link Academy and the product champion for our flagship training series, Boredom Slayers.

Having cut his teeth (and his abs) as an award-winning, world-travelling live drummer, Kev knows all the stand-up-and-stand-out techniques to move an audience to its feet. Since switching the sticks for the mic, he has trained over 50 TEDx speakers, hundreds of CEOs, many, many teams and even a few talk-show hosts and public figures.

But is he any good? Well, one of SA’s largest listed financial institutions insists that Kevin’s bottomless energy and inspirational positivity are best experienced in person, and fly him to wherever they need him to be and, thus far, has traveled to 9 different countries, 108,000km and 163 hours of plane time to make people smarter across the planet.

Online and in-person, Kev is one of the gosh-darned nicest people you’ll ever be lucky enough to meet, and he will make laugh, and think, and turn you into a stronger, more dynamic presenter.

We are very lucky to have been able to include Josh on this page – for both his professionalism and his personality. With regards to the former, his work is as interesting as it is brilliant, which is why he is globally recognised as an authority on design thinking, and Africa’s very first expert to be Prezi accredited. Wiser than his limited years should allow for, he has (mad) skills in both narrative strategy and visual-aid design, and it’s this combination that has made many great brands’ content so powerful, and his TEDTalk speakers so memorable.

But it’s thanks to the latter aspects of our Josh that our clients really shine. Having learned to love the stage himself, he knows how to use each coaching session to bring out the very best in each individual. Be prepared for his jocularity, his terrible pranks and his 10-meter wide, 1000-watt, energy-efficient grin.

His decision to join our family all those years ago has made it stronger and smarter, and his hunger for information and trends continues to do so.

Pierre is no stranger to the speaking stage. He has been featured regularly on TEDx stages, and his speaking clients have included BMW, KFC, Adcock Ingram, Alan Gray, LASIK. He leads a contemplative community with a strong focus on meditation, retreats, and inner work in Cape Town and was the co-founder of Palaestra. He is also an award-winning author, having received the Desmond Tutu, Gerrit Brand prize for literature for his book titled Train Naked. As someone who cares deeply about human development and people becoming better people, Pierre’s coaching style is based on leveraging ancient wisdom in order to solve modern business challenges. He believes he is the love child of Getrude Stein and Jason Bourne and lives in Cape Town, South Africa with his wife, two kids and his iPhone.

Having been in sales and customer service for 18 years and an Apple-certified trainer for 8 years, Alon brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience in training and facilitation best practices. Not only has Alon trained and coached hundreds of retail employees throughout Southern Africa, he has also presented at numerous businesses and media events. He is a UCT graduate in Training and Development Management, a certified Life Coach and was a primetime radio show host. Passion, infectious energy and a whole lot of learning are just some of the things you’ll get from a session with Alon.

Ruan Labuschagne

These years spent behind the camera have given Ruan a rather particular view of the world. In his 2 decades of hands-on experience, he has done impressive things outside our walls – broadcast and mainstream TV shows, entertainment journalism, brand and marketing activation (phew) – as well as within them. He has coached CEOs, encouraged interviewees, conceptualized and captured large-scale productions, coordinated on-stage and online events – and the accretion of these varied experiences and points of view have informed his perspective.

As he has informed those he’s worked with. It’s fair to say that Ruan’s quirky brilliance makes his production work so good, while he makes the people he works with better, and he always gives more than he gets.

No matter the workload, no matter the complexity, Ruan’s positivity is harder to scratch than titanium, and this rings through in any project he’s involved in. They’re just… better. When COVID hit, his hands were integral in helping the team to rebuild our online CloudCrew offering, allowing the business to thrive.
